Clement Delangue (Hugging Face) x Matt Hartman (Factorial)

Matt was a partner at Betaworks when it funded Clement Delangue, Julien Chaumond and Thomas Wolf with a “quit your job” check to start Hugging Face. Since then, Hugging Face has become the default platform for artificial intelligence. Over 1,000 startups are built on top of Hugging Face today. We're teaming up to write ~$100k checks into new startups building AI-first companies, and are especially interested in companies building in and around the Hugging Face ecosystem.

Stage:

1. We’re happy to be the first or last investors in your round at the pre-seed or seed stage (whatever those labels mean). Also open to later stage than that. We typically invest about $200k.

2. We’re open to being the only ~$100k to help you quit your job.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re focused on engineering-led teams building AI-native companies. That might be open source critical to the next generation of AI infrastructure, training really interesting models for specific use cases, or using models for b2b or consumer use cases in innovative ways.
